Herdwick Sheep Salt and Pepper Pots

In this sheep salt and pepper set, the ram is approximately 3 inches high, and is the pepper pot or pepperbox; the ewe is the salt cellar. He has the lovely curly horns, and both have the smooth white face typical of the Herdwick breed, which is the native breed of the central and western Lake District; the name comes from Herdwyck, meaning sheep pasture. Herdwick lambs are born nearly black, and gradually lighten to this attractive steely blue during their first year.
